So You Think You Know The Winner?
Our new Correspondent John Mac writes:
'I must admit that during the early years of its formulation in the 1980s, I had very little interest in the Breeders Cup. As happens so many times as a punter, it is having a stroke of luck in a particular event which then stimulates a lifetime of subsequent involvement.
1993 was the year that ignited my Breeders Cup flame and it was quite by chance that it came about.
Back in the day I would normally totally ignore racing abroad as I had no knowledge of for…

John Mac, Take a Bow...
I've been pretty quiet over the last couple of weeks but there is a good reason for that and I'm hoping readers will like it.
I've been involved in protracted negotiations to secure a guest writer for the blog and, finally, I've nailed him down. I'm convinced I've had a serious touch!
John Mac' (not him with the silly hat and oafish attitude) is somebody I've known of for some time but only recently had the pleasure to get to know in the real world. He's a legendary figure for those in the know -…

The St Leger meeting reaches its climax...
I struggled over the title of my post this morning. I'm covering a fair bit of ground today and the St Leger will be only a small part of it. However, I finally plumped for the St Leger as it's the big race of the weekend and it does get a mention.
Kicking off though, a complete change of pace with a look at a little strategy that has served me well over the last few years.Big Brother Trading Strategy
The new series of Big Brother starts tonight. I'm guessing that many readers are not huge fans…The Most Beautiful Race Course in the World?
Once again it has been far too long since my last post. In my defence (and it's a poor one) I have had a pretty busy time of it over the last couple of weeks. Running the Morning Value Serice is a full time job before I even start my personal betting and keeping up to date with news and developments in the betting world.
All readers have my sincere apologies for the lack of attention to the blog and I will be rectifying that this week. Both the current reviews will be updated in the next co…
The Ebor Handicap
Over half way through August and we've already reached the final day of the Ebor meeting. The big handicap is, of course, the Ebor ( named after the Roman name for York - Eboracum). Never an easy puzzle to solve and looking particularly competitive this year, I won't be getting heavily involved.
That being said, I still think there is some value to be had in this race and recent history tells us to look beyond the head of the market (only one favourite has obliged in the last 10 runnings and in …

Haydock High Jinks and The Great betting Giveaway
Just a short post today dear friends and a very warm welcome to anybody who is here for the first time. If you are completely new to the blog you can learn a little more about me here.
It’s nice to (metaphorically) see a few new faces! I hope everybody who has downloaded the AW Favourites System over the last couple of days enjoys it and finds it profitable.
While I’m on the subject of downloading, the Great Betting Giveaway will be closing down tonight. If you haven’t moseyed over there and gr…

The Return of Prince Monolulu?
Glorious Goodwood is over for another year and, despite it being somewhat of a punting graveyard for myself, it remains my favourite meeting in the Flat calendar. It’s easily the most beautiful course in the country and the mixture of toffs, spivs, celebs and geezers it attracts is a joy to behold. I’m always half-expecting Prince Monolulu to put in an appearance.

"Champagne Charlie" has his fingers in a lot of pies.....
Howdy Gang,
I don't know if I'm particularly slow or I just don't keep up with the day to day news as much as I should.
But I had no idea that this Rebekah Brooks creature (she of the flaming red hair and only a very vague recollection of what went on at the newspaper she edited) is married to our old friend "Champagne" Charlie Brooks! I'm not a big fan of Champagne Charlie and his marriage to this person has merely confirmed my opinion.
Charlie, you might remember, was one of the leading campaign…

Digital Notebook
Just a short post today, lovely people!
I've had a few requests for an occasional post giving simple tips and tricks on making betting life a bit simpler/easier/less time consuming. Anybody who made such a request (you know who you are!), firstly thanks fior giving me the idea and secondly, you can count this as the first in a series of such posts.

Fame and Glory - A Trip Too Far?
I'm back, dear friends, from my mountainside exertions in the luverrly Lake District last week and - much to my own surprise and relief - I'm still in one piece. I have to admit that I wasn't charging across the fells with quite the same speed and abandon as in my youth but these days comfort is rather more of a priority than speed.
Rashly I also made plans to spend a few days in Devon with friends straight after my Lake District sojourn. As a result, what was planned as a relaxing week or so rec…
