Course Connoisseurs

Today, lovely readers, we have a guest post from Ben Aitken, author of 'Narrowing the Field- Using the Dosage Method to Win at National Hunt Racing'

I've been a big fan of Ben's work for a while now and today his meticulous research has identified one of those special horses that excel at a particular track - the course specialist.

Over to Ben:

This bloody weather...

Hello lovely readers. I've been a bit quiet on the blog of late and I'm going to be sorting that out this week.

Today we have an article from one of our guest writers - John Mac, long term pro punter and tipster. I'll hand you over to John:

"Hands up all those who have suffered probably their worst ever start to the turf flat season this year?

If I could do a head count of all those with one long arm pointing skywards I would probably be here all day counting!

The results come in and the head starts…

Royal Ascot Tipping Competition Final Results

It's all over Now as Mick Jagger (I think) said.

Royal Ascot has come and gone and we saw some exceptional performances none more so than that of the mighty Frankel. He is an out and out machine and must now be among the greatest racehorses we have ever seen.I certainly can't remember any better in my lifetime and Timeform rate him the greatest of all time.

On to the more important matter of the Make Your Betting Pay Royal Ascot tipping competition the final standings of which are below:

Royal Ascot Tipping Competition Day 2

Welcome all,

Day 1 was a funny old day with some strange results - apart, of course, from the manner in which Frankel demolished a classy Group 1 field. Now that really is a machine!

Day 2 awaits in all it's Royal Glory and Sir Castleton leads our field in the early stages after a very decent pick of Most Improved - Fallon gave that one a terrific ride in my opinion.

Current standings and tips from all tipsters are below:
Nickname Points 20/06/2012
Sir Castleton 9 Farrh
Stewy 0 Carlton …

Royal Ascot Tipping Comp

Just a short post today folks to announce,  and invite entries to, this years Royal Ascot Tipping Competition

Following on from the success of the tipping competition I ran over Christmas and then during the Cheltenham Festival, I thought it would be nice if everybody could have a crack at Royal Ascot (my second favourite flat meeting of the year after Glorious Goodwood)

I've had a think about the best way to run the competition and I hope I've developed with a fair and reasonable structure.

The co…

A Sumptuous Summer of Sporting Spectaculars

Hello everybody,

It's been quite some time since I managed to put a post up on here. Particularly one with such a lovely alliterative title!

For that, you have my apologies. I've been buried neck deep in work with the launch of my Evening Value Service and I have neglected this blog scandalously. I won't do it again - I promise. In fact, I've got some exciting new stuff on it's way for the blog which I'll tell you about later in the week.

Actually very glad to have that launch out of the way - I'm …

The Greatest Steeplechase in the World

After a miserable first two days of theFestival for me, I will be treading very carefully for the final day .

I will, however, be getting further involved in the big race tomorrow.

If you read last week's early look at the National, I'm already on Chicago Grey and Killyglen but will use today's post to have a more in depth look at the trends for the race to see if I can tease our another couple of selections.

The temptation when using trends can be to drill down too far in the quest for only a coup…

John Smith's Foxhunters value?

Just a very short post today dear readers

I was intending to leave my post until tomorrow when I will have an in depth look at the national but, after casting my eye over the Foxhunters tomorrow, I thought I'd post today because I'm hoping there will be a touch of value available later today.

As things stand, nobody is currently offering prices but this is a race with strong trends and I've managed to narrow down the 26 runner field to just a couple who fit the profile.

The strong trends for this r…
