Crucible Analysis Part 2

Back again dear readers!

Apologies for not posting last night - I didn't get back from Wolverhampton until gone 8pm and by the time I'd had my dinner I was way too tired to do anything other than slump in front of the television.

Continuing with the analysis of the top chances at The Crucible this year, lets have a look at:

Ding Junhui

Another one of the contenders who on ability is more than capable of winning this. I do, however, have some doubts about his temperament particularly here at the Cruc…

Crucible Analysis

Things at The Crucible are warming up nicelywith no major shocks so far - though Martin Gould's 10-9 defeat of Marco Fu was a bit of a surprise. To be honest Fu is a strange kind of player. Sometimes I watch him when he is amongst the balls and cueing well and I think - How has this man not won more than he has?  He is sublime when playing well and capable of beating anybody on his day. I didn't see much of this match but he clearly wasn't reaching those heights.

Lets look at the chances  of the …

Let Battle Commence!

I realise, dear readers, that this blog is largely devoted to the Sport of Kings - and rightly so. After all, it's what pays the bills. However,  just occasionally, I will be giving you my thoughts on other sporting events which I find of interest. Today, I'm going to look at the Kings of the Green Baize as they kick off the most important event of their season - Snooker's World Championship from the crucible sponsored by our old friends Betfred (the cowardly lion of the bookmaking fraternity)

The Great British Weather

Binocular In my last post I waxed lyrical about all the fun I was going to have on Good Friday at The Betfair Lambourn Open Day. Well, the best laid plans and all that......

On Thursday evening we went late night shopping at Tesco in Oxford to get some nice picnic items for the bank holiday day out.  We spent a pleasant hour or so roaming the aisles locating goodies to pop in the hamper before heading home, preparing the sandwiches and scooting to bed ready for an early start.

Good Friday dawned  and off w…

Betfair Lambourn Open Day

Long time no speak, dear readers.

Apologies from me. Been a very busy couple of weeks getting my new accounts set up, moving money around like a mob launderer, managing heavy betting commitments and general time sapping nonsense. No excuse though, my loves, I need to display a higher level of commitment to you all and I promise I am working on it!

The title of the post refers to how I will be spending my Good Friday. Getting up nice and early tomorrow to attend The Betfair Lambourn Open Day (blood…

Unfettered Wagering and A Word for Paul Nolan

Just a short few lines today, dear friends, as I have a busy day ahead of me.

Hopefully this afternoon, I will be acquiring a fresh set of bookmaker accounts and will finally be able to bet freely again.

Something very few of the tipsters and system peddlers will ever tell you (except as a back story showcasing their "incredible tipping talent") is that as a professional bettor one of the biggest problems you will encounter is "getting on" to any meaningful sums at best price. Show even a modicum …

Cheltenham - Bah Humbug!

I may be something of a curmudgeon but I am tired, tired, tired  of hearing about the Holy Cheltenham Festival.

If I receive one more e-mail offering me tips or trends or analysis or inside info for "The Festival", I might just scream and smash my monitor.  Enough is enough is enough. Don't get me wrong - I find the spectacle of the very best horses competing for the very best prizes  as fascinating and exciting as the next man. The glory of it all will keep me glued to the box every afternoon ne…

Oh Woe is Me

Once in a while a series of events occur that seriously test the faith.

I have just had a weekend that would test the faith of the pope himself!

I know other peoples bad beat stories are tedious but I need to get this one off my chest.

It all started swimmingly  on Saturday afternoon with a pleasing win on Clova Island in the 1.30 at Kempton. A good omen for the weekend you might think. I settled back to enjoy the Saturday racing safe in the knowledge I had played a good hand and got some tasty ear…
