Finally, Some Jumps Racing

Welcome again dear readers

At last we have some National Hunt racing to get our teeth into - thanks to the foresight of the ground staff at Cheltenham who have had the covers on the track since the start of this cold snap. I'm guessing it's quite an expensive thing to do but surely some of the other courses could have done the same and spared me the unpleasant experience of launching the Jump Jockey Profits service on 1 st December to have only one jumps meeting go ahead in the following 9 days!

I was beginning to think the gods were conspiring against me but JJP (as I shall call Jump Jockey Profits from now on) has a fair number of qualifiers today and I have everything crossed that we can get off to a reasonable start. Sod's law dictates that we won't - profitable betting on horses is a long term proposition and hoping that, in the short term,  you can bend any particular series of results to your will is folly in the extreme!

A great card at Cheltenham tomorrow as well, with some top class racing on offer.  I don't have a strong fancy for the Tingle Creek but, for my money,  Masterminded may not be quite such a warm order as the betting would lead you to think.  I don't think he will be that short come the off tomorrow. I'm not saying he won't win -I just can't have him as an odds - on chance.  For me, that false price is creating plenty of value elsewhere.

The International Hurdle is a fascinating race in prospect - it should be a ding-dong battle between Menorah, Cue Card and Silviniaco Conti and I wouldn't like to have to pick the winner from those 3. They are clearly headed to the very top but, on this occasion,  I will be keeping my powder dry and  enjoying the spectacle.

Moving from Cheltenham to the slightly lower class racing at Wolverhampton this afternoon. Khajaaly owned by the geegeez racing club  looks to follow up quickly on a facile ( and very smooth) victory there 3 weeks ago. I rate Just Timmy Marcus a big danger but I wish everybody involved in the club  the very best of luck (especially Matt Bisogno who has put in a mammoth amount of hard work on the project). It must be very nice to see Khajaaly installed as favourite! I was hoping to get there myself today but a variety of factors have conspired to keep me firmly planted in front of the computer at home.

Moving entirely away from racing for a moment, I note Patrice Evra has been deriding Arsenal again. Arsenal/Man Utd is always a fiery fixture and needs very little additional edge . Yet, here's Evra again,  stirring the pot and goading Arsenal for the lack of trophies in recent years. Let's hope the mighty gunners can shove those words right back down his throat come Monday night!

Apologies for that, I can't help myself, the man is an ignoramus.

I'm going to wrap it up there before I say something I regret!

Wherever you put your money over the weekend, I wish you luck with it.

Kieran
