UFC Fight Night 144, 3rd February 2019 - Fortaleza, brazil
A decent card from Brazil and there are 3 fights I want to cover in this post. There is plenty of value available if you're prepared to look beyond the obvious.
Anthony Hernandez v Markus Perez
I'm not really sure why Anthony Hernandez is quite such a favourite here.
Markus Perez may not be a world beater but I think he's a very tough first UFC outing for Anthony Hernandez, particularly when Perez in his own back yard with a partisan Brazilian crowd behind him (and Brazilian judges to boot).
Hernandez was impressive in his appearance on Dana White's Tuesday Contender Series and we don't really know as yet what he might be but I'm willing to take a chance on Perez grinding out the win in front of his home crowd.
Advice: 1 pt Win Markus Perez @ 2.60 with Hills (2.40 generally)
Jose Aldo v Renato Moicano
I thought long and hard before making this one a bet. Renato Moicano is a very, very good fighter - a high level striker with a very legit BJJ black belt who may well be the future of the division. He's run through everybody put in front of him so far apart from Brian Ortega (who we know to be one of the very best there is at 145 pounds and who Moicano was beating handily before being caught in a guillotine late on in the fight).
However, on Saturday he faces Jose Aldo, the greatest featherweight to ever pull on the gloves, one of the true all time pound for pound greats and a man who I believe retains enough of his former greatness to see off Moicano at this point. He doesn't look as invincible as he once did and there is a possibility his chin has been cracked but he has still only ever been beaten by the absolute cream of the crop.
I think Aldo should be a shade of odds on here and to see him available odds against was a surprise to me. I don't think we can let the opportunity pass despite the fact that this is a very close fight.
Advice: 1 pt Win Jose Aldo at 2.2 with Bet365, VC, Betfred
Raphael Assuncao v Marlon Moraes
This is another very tough, very close fight to pick so I have to admit I was surprised to say the least to see Assuncao available to back at 2.62 with Sky Bet.
Moraes is a deadly finisher and his last two ko wins over Jimmie Rivera and Aljamain Sterling put him right at the top of the heap. However, he lost his first UFC fight to Raphael Assuncao just 18 months ago and I can see this fight going exactly the same way. Assuncao is a master tactician and you'd struggle to find a more wily veteran. Though this could go either way, at the price I'm happy to bet on this being a frustrating night for Moraes .
Advice: 1pt Win Raphael Assuncao at 2.62 with Sky Bet (2.4 generally)
Last but not least, I will perm all of the bets into a 0.25 point win trixie
Summary:
Advice: 1 pt Win Markus Perez @ 2.60 with Hills (2.40 generally)
Advice: 1 pt Win Jose Aldo at 2.2 with Bet365, VC, Betfred
Advice: 1pt Win Raphael Assuncao at 2.62 with Sky Bet (2.4 generally)
Above 3 in a 0.25 point win trixie
Good luck if you're getting involved.
