Daly/Johnson
A very brief post today, dear friends, just to point out an interesting development I have noticed.
Yesterday, Henry Daly and Richard Johnson paired up for a very nice 33/1 double at Warwick - representing a 100% strike rate for both of them on the day.
Not the most amazing news in the world, I hear you say - and you'd be right. It happens all the time that a jockey and trainer pair up for a double, treble or more. What I did notice and find interesting was that, in previous years, the Johnson/Daly partnership has been poor:
Runs: 689 Wins: 122 P/L: -122.4 points (at SP)
However, since the turn of the year, they have paired up on 5 separate occasions - all of which resulted in a winner. Since 1st January backing all of Henry Daly's horses ridden by Richard Johnson would have resulted in a 100% strike rate and a level stakes profit of 16.9 points at SP.
Pretty impressive! It's probably an anomaly but it's certainly worth keeping a close eye on.
Have a great weekend
Kieran
PS I might be bonkers but I think Dynaste is overpriced in the Cleeve Hurdle tomorrow. I know the Pipe stable think the world of this horse and if he doesn't go off at quite such a suicidal pace as last time, I think he can give Big Bucks a run for his money. Currently 9/1 with SJ, I'll be having a little of that each way. Mourad is clearly a danger for the place money but I think we're getting a reasonable price to find out.
PPS Based on his run at Kempton in the King George, I don't think Captain Chris will get home over the extra distance (or the Cheltenham hill) in the Argento Chase tomorrow. He's way too short at 9/4 generally and that's creating plenty of value elsewhere. I think both Time for Rupert and Midnight Chase are offering value at their respective prices. I'll also be a layer of Captain Chris if he gets any shorter!
